I Suck at Content but Still Make Great Ads

How To Make Good Ads, Even if you Don't Understand Content

I am not very good at content creation, and I never have been. My personal Instagram is never something I have cared very much about, and when I do content deals with brands, I use third party creators, who are good at content, instead of filming it myself.

I think this is due to my ability to understand what people like and relate to being limited. I have a naturally standoffish demeanor, unless I take particular effort to improve it, and it is hard for me to sound like a creator.

But even with all of that, I have generated a net ROAS of over 12 to 1 on my portfolio. I do this using frameworks.

What is a Good Content Framework?

Something easy to follow. I usually do not need a system explained to me more than once, but I do need each part shown. The framework should have the minimum number of complexities and steps required to accomplish the stated goal.

This not only lowers risk of failure, but improves the average results by decreasing the amount of variation in the process.

What is my Framework?

  1. Start with who your product is for. Think of the best possible buyer.

  2. Analyze their motivation for purchasing. What problem are you solving?

  3. Write this problem as different levels of awareness. How much do they understand about their problem and your benefits?

  4. Repeat for as many problems you want to advertise.

  5. Come up with a way to showcase the problem in a creative format, I.E. an image template or video style.

  6. Fill out the template/style for each problem message you wrote.

  7. Place into the ad account, and see what performs the best.

  8. Iterate.

Iteration is a separate area of content. This is how I, even without being good at creating content or being emotionally in tune with my audience, can drive great results.
